Cascina Carlot

Cascina Carlòt is a family-run farm commited to sustainability and offers an assortment of genuine wines with an undeniable charme. Claudio calls himself a winegrower as opposed to winemaker, faithful to the - typically Piedmontese - philosophy that wine is made first of all in the vineyard and then in the cellar. The range of products expresses perfectly the deep roots and the wines tell the story of this territory and its grapevines in an authentic and honest way. Loyal to his bond with the land he lives on and following the rhythm of nature, Claudio, planting hazelnut and fruit trees, set the basis to create a farm ruled by the principles of biodiversity and concentrated on renewable energy and rainwater harvesting. For the last 10 years he has devoted himself to the continious modernization of his farm focussing to become energy self-sufficient in the future: the ideal place for his wines to rest. Little Mario - his recently born son who, not without reason, bears the name of his greatgrandfather – will collect the heritage and spirit from his father.

In 1800 Carlo Marchisio, called Carlòt, is the owner of the farmland around the estate which today still bears his nickname.
As he does not have any male heirs, in 1920 he hands the administration of the property over to Mario Mo – the grandfather of the present owner Claudio Mo – who later purchases the farm.
From Mario's four children only Giovanni and Angelo enter the family business. The heritage then goes to Angelo and afterwards to Claudio who continues with pride the path chosen by his grandfather.
Today, with the help of his wife and his parents, he works the 7 hectars of vineyards and the hazelnut groves and the garden: listening to his land and understanding its needs, he lives in harmony with its nature.
