The South Tyrolean wine production is mainly characterized by red wines, the main wine-growing areas are: Valdadige from Merano to Salorno with pinot blanc, pinot grigio and schiava ; theValle Inarco from Bressanone to Bolzano with kerner, silvaner and veltriner; and the average low Valle Venosta with kerner, and müller thurgau. Other grapes which are very important for South Tyrol are the red Lagrein cultivated mainly in the area arounchardonnayd Bolzano, and traminer aromatico or gewürztraminer that owes its origins to the village of Termeno.
