Liguria

liguria.jpgliguria.jpg

Liguria is predominantly mountainous and hilly. The morphology of the land is not particularly suited to farming of grapes, especially the Ponente area which is predominantly marble and limestone and Levante, made up of clay limestone. There are many valleys and waterways in this region and the climate is different throughout, milder on the coast, protected from the mountains to the north, on the continental towards the slopes of Padano. The rains are uncommon in the region, but abundant. The most popular varieties of grape are the rossese for Rossese of Dolceacqua, vermentino, pigato and omerascoespecially in DOC Riviera Ligure di Ponente. Another denomination to be certainly mentioned is the DOC Cinque Terre with a type of rare, sweet or semi-sweet grapes called Sciacchetrà attained from the grapes ofbosco, albarola and / or vermentino.

Vermentino, Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC

DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOME!

Although made from a grape grown widely in an area covering Tuscany, Provence, Sardinia and Corsica, the wine has a distinctively Ligurian character. The label features Castle Doria in green, like the green tinges of the wine, emphasised by a white line that is a stylised image of the humpback bridge, on a white background. It encapsulates Dolceacqua.
