The Valle d'Aosta is the smallest region of Italy, being mountainous, it has a decidedly alpine climate. Wine production is mainly concentrated along the valley of the Dora Baltea. The mountainous terrain of this area requiresfarming on terraces. Most wine produced in Valle d'Aosta are rare, sought after and consumed in the region. There are various types of grapes grown here, namely the nebbiolo for theDonnas and the Arnad-Montjovet that are comparable to those of finesse near Piedmont, fumin, petit rouge, noted by the smell of fresh red berries, premëtta, etc. .. The valley also produces excellent white wines but always uncommon, Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle from prié blanc grapes, chardonay and some malvasie. The range of wines produced is wide and the designation of origin is unique either Valle d'Aosta or in French: Vallée d'Aoste.
